DESCRIPTION:Presentation:\nThe new PMT/vPvM hazard classes - trouble brewin
g for industry and regulators alike?\n \nThursday 11.45 to 12.00\, Stage 5
\n \nSpeaker: \nChristopher Hughes - Director - Embark Chemical Consulting
\n \nAbout this presentation\nThe new hazard classes for persistent\, mobi
le and toxic (PMT) and very persistent\, very mobile (vPvM) substances are
now in force under the EU CLP regulation\, and proposed as criteria for i
dentifying substances of very high concern (SVHC) as part of the upcoming
revision of EU REACH. They are also already included in various pieces of
downstream legislation in the EU\, and under discussion at UN GHS level. A
lthough a relatively new concept\, PMT/vPvM is therefore already highly re
levant. But what are the implications of these new hazard classes for exis
ting chemicals on the market\, and what is the experience of trying to imp
lement them? In this presentation\, we will explore these aspects and disc
uss what the implementation of the PMT/vPvM hazard classes is likely to lo
ok like in the years ahead. We will discuss the requirements for assessing
substances and mixtures\, including some of the less well-known challenge
s related to data availability\, testing and assessment. \n \nWe will also
look at things from the regulator’s perspective\, including on further
testing requests\, grouping\, and attempt to provide an outlook on the evo
lving policy situation. Attendees can expect to be brought up to speed on
the requirements for assessing their substances and mixtures according to
the new PMT/vPvM hazard classes\, and to gain valuable insights and unders
tanding of the broader challenges and implications of these regulatory dev
elopments for their business.\nChristopher Hughes - Chemical UK Expo
