al contribution towards circularity and net zero goals.\n \nThursday 15.00

out this presentation\nMetol Ltd have developed a unique low molecular wei
ght thermoplastic polymer\, based on PBT\, for the production of composite
structures such as wind turbine blades\, boats pipes and pultrusions etc.
This unique thermoplastic oligomer\, MET-OL™\, melts at 140C into a wat
er-like fluid which aids the impregnation of dense fibre reinforcements. A
fter impregnation the low molecular weight oligomer is polymerised in-situ
with the resulting thermoplastic composite exhibiting excellent mechanica
l properties comparable to conventional epoxy and polyester based composit
es. \n \nThe beauty of this thermoplastic oligomer is that at the end of t
he components life\, the polymer and reinforcements can be readily separat
ed\, using solvolysis technology\, and the materials re-used in other appl
ications. A truly circular approach to use and re-use of thermoplastic com
posite materials.\n \nGerry Boyce - Chemical UK Expo

About this presentation
Metol L
td have developed a unique low molecular weight thermoplastic polymer\, ba
sed on PBT\, for the production of composite stru
ctures such as wind turbine blades\, boats pipes and pu
ltrusions etc. This unique thermoplastic oligomer\, MET-OL™\, mel
ts at 140C into a water-like fluid which aids the impregnation of dense fi
bre reinforcements. After impregnation the low mo
lecular weight oligomer is polymerised in-situ with the resulting thermopl
astic composite exhibiting excellent mechanical properties comparable to c
onventional epoxy and polyester based composites.
The beauty of this thermoplastic oligomer is that at the end
of the components life\, the polymer and reinforc
ements can be readily separated\, using solvolysis technology\, and the ma
terials re-used in other applications. A truly circular approach to use an
d re-use of thermoplastic composite materials.
